AECOM is seeking a motivated, technically experienced team leader to serve as Electrical Engineering Lead based in Houston or Dallas, TX. The ideal candidate will have a passion for leading technically proficient teams, designing custom solutions, mentoring mid-level and junior staff, managing the electrical team workload and developing calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications for the electrical design work on exciting and complex projects.
Job Summary/Responsibilities
We have an opening for an Electrical Engineering Lead responsible for electrical systems design (power distribution, power generation, energy storage, lighting, fire alarm) for a wide variety of multi-disciplinary (A&E) project types, including but not limited to:
Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics
Laboratories
Corporate Commercial
Government and Academic
Utility Plant and campus distribution
The Electrical Engineering Principal should be capable of leading and developing teams to complete building engineering projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external clients is required. You will be expected to:
Serve as a Discipline Leader for our Texas team and provide mentorship to an experienced group of engineers;
Be responsible for Electrical systems design (power distribution, power generation, energy storage, lighting, fire alarm)
Plan design work, calculates costs, and time schedules to assign design duties to junior staff working on projects
Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, mechanical, technology and equipment suppliers
Maintain accurate project documentation and design data for permanent project files
Evaluate project staffing requirements, analyzes problems, and writes reports
Lead client meetings regarding engineering systems and maintaining good client relations
Identify prospective clients, assists in marketing to develop new clients, and develops future projects with existing clients
Assure quality and completeness of the engineering design;
Switch between work on multiple/different projects daily
Represent the organization and maintains liaison with individuals and related organizations
Signing and sealing contract documents.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering or related field plus eight (8) years of related design experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Professional Engineer (PE) license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
12+ years of engineering experience in the commercial building design and the construction industry;
Current Professional Engineers license in the state of Texas or ability to gain reciprocity
5+ years of experience as the primary engineering interface with multiple clients either as a project manager or as the engineering lead;
Knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies;
Experience with design and construction of commercial, industrial, and utility scale power distribution systems including selecting and specifying conductors, raceway, switch gear, motor control centers, panelboards, circuit breakers, and other common power distribution components;
Experience with designing electrical and life safety systems based on NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, and ANSI/EIA/TIA compliant;
Technical writing experience and proficiency;
Familiarity with REVIT and knowledge of BIM;
Modeling electrical systems with SKM, ETAP, EZ-Power or other IEEE compliant modeling tools;
Specifying electrical equipment including transformers, switchboards, panelboards, overcurrent protective devices, conductors, raceway, generators, uninterruptible power supplies, motors, and variable frequency drives;
Experience scoping and drafting fees for engineering components of interdisciplinary project work
Ability to obtain security clearance.
