Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Transportation Client Advisor to support and strengthen key transportation client relationships with an emphasis on highways, roadways, and structural bridge projects spanning the full lifecycle—from planning and concept development through design, procurement, and construction phase services. You will serve as a senior technical and client‑facing resource supporting our transportation practice in Florida.

This role blends client relationship support and pursuit contribution, and technical oversight. You will partner closely with practice leaders, project managers, and discipline leads to support pursuit development and solution shaping and ensure excellence in delivery.

What You’ll Do

Client Leadership & Growth

  • Support established account plans for FDOT districts, counties, municipalities, tolling authorities, MPOs, and other transportation agencies.
  • Contribute to pipeline development and pursuit efforts.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor, helping translate client priorities into actionable technical approaches in coordination with client managers.
  • Participate in thought leadership, industry conference activities, and client outreach efforts to position our team for upcoming programs.
  • Support pursuit planning discussions, including win strategy, teaming, and technical positioning, with cross‑functional teams; ensure compliance and competitiveness.

Proposal & Capture Management

  • Support the development of SOQs/RFP/RFQ responses, interview strategies, and shortlist presentations.
  • Contribute to win themes, differentiators, and technical approaches grounded in state‑of‑the‑art methods and practical delivery.
  • Support teaming relationships with primes/subs, small business partners, and specialty firms to add value and meet goals.

Technical & Delivery Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership across conceptual planning, roadway/highway/bridge design, corridor studies, traffic/ITS, and construction phase services (CEI/CM).
  • Provide senior technical guidance to project teams on scope definition, risk considerations, schedules, QA/QC, applicable design standards, and coordination considerations.
  • Ensure designs adhere to FDOT and AASHTO standards and procedures, with attention to safety, resilience, and constructability.
  • Contribute technical input to design‑build pursuits, including design narratives, alternative concepts, and preliminary engineering solutions.

Operational & Financial Performance

  • Partner with project managers to support successful delivery, scope clarity, and quality outcomes.
  • Provide input on staffing approaches and subconsultant coordination, and support contract negotiations and amendments.
  • Champion quality, safety, and sustainability commitments in delivery and teaming.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serves as a senior technical resource in a specialty area, supporting projects and initiatives within assigned districts or regions.
  • Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of advising on potential impacts on projects, standards, and technical approaches.
  • Interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates assignments.
  • Exercises independent judgment on technical matters within defined project scopes and represents the organization in meetings and conferences as a senior technical advisor.
  • Applies advanced or state‑of‑the‑art knowledge and experience to resolve complex or unique technical issues. The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work usually results from progressive experience.
  • Works with general direction, with assignments defined by overall objectives, project needs, and established standards.

Key Competencies

  • Client relationship support and contribution to pipeline development
  • Capture support, technical storytelling, and contribution to competitive differentiation
  • Technical acumen across highway/roadway/bridge lifecycle
  • Working knowledge of project financial considerations, including fees, contracts, and pricing structures
  • Technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across disciplines
  • Risk management, problem solving, and decision‑making
  • Senior‑level client presence and technical advocacy

Work Environment & Travel

• Hybrid client‑facing role based in Florida with periodic travel (~25–40%) to client offices, project sites, interviews, and industry events across Florida and occasional travel as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Ten years of progressive experience in transportation infrastructure, with emphasis on highways, roadways, and bridges from planning through construction or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting client relationships and contributing to multi‑disciplinary pursuits (FDOT and/or other DOTs, toll authorities, counties/municipalities).
  • Demonstrated experience with FDOT processes, standards, manuals, and production workflows; familiarity with AASHTO.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Florida (or ability to obtain via comity within 6 months).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience contributing to successful pursuits, proposals, and interview efforts.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Prior experience with FDOT Districts, Florida Turnpike Enterprise, expressway/toll authorities, or large county/municipal programs.
  • Familiarity with teaming partners and small business participation within Florida.
  • Experience with coordination of structures with roadway, drainage, traffic, and geotechnical teams.
