Skills
- Proficient in C++ and/or Python for production robotics software
- Experience with autonomous vehicle hardware and sensors (radar, sonar, LiDAR, cameras)
- Practical knowledge in at least one of: computer vision, sensor fusion, SLAM, motion planning, or machine learning
- Experience delivering perception or planning subsystems for robotic systems
- Strong simulation and testing practice for algorithm validation
Responsibilities
- Design and implement navigation, collision avoidance, and situational awareness systems for maritime vehicles
- Develop scalable subsystems: sensor processing, perception, tracking, motion planning, health management, and anomaly detection
- Integrate sensors (radar, sonar, LiDAR, cameras) and define sensor selection and interfaces
- Apply computer vision, sensor fusion, SLAM, and machine learning to improve vehicle perception and planning
- Build and maintain simulation and test infrastructure; validate algorithms with simulation and real-world data
- Act as a technical owner across the system lifecycle: requirements, roadmap, implementation, sustainment, and stakeholder coordination
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software, mechanical, systems) and mentor junior engineers
- Travel to field sites and co-locate with users or teams up to 20% of the time
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) desirable for research-heavy roles (preferred, not required)
