Skills
- Deep knowledge of statics, dynamics, solid mechanics, materials science and FEA
- Proficiency with FEMAP/Nastran or equivalent FEA tools
- Experience with aeroelasticity, flutter and aeroservoelastic analysis
- Hands-on experience designing and executing dynamics and flight loads testing
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills for reports and customer briefings
- Ability to scope ill-defined problems and work autonomously with high ownership
Responsibilities
- Develop structural loads analyses for air vehicles and systems across flight and ground conditions
- Create and maintain integrated dynamics finite element models (FEMs) for loads derivation and aeroelastic studies
- Perform aeroelastic and aeroservoelastic analyses to predict and verify aircraft behavior
- Conduct flutter analyses to inform design decisions and ensure flight safety
- Generate flight loads data in accordance with MIL, FAR, JSSG-2006 and other applicable standards
- Collaborate with design engineers to drive structural optimization based on loads results
- Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to internal teams, management, and external customers
- Design and execute dynamics testing programs (vibration testing, modal testing, GVT) and define instrumentation
- Define data acquisition strategies and perform flight loads data processing and post-processing
Education
- BS or higher in Engineering or Applied Physics with a structures focus
- Relevant coursework or background in dynamics, solid mechanics, materials science, and finite element analysis
