Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical
Skills
- 5+ years hands-on manufacturing experience in aerospace/defense/medical/complex electronics
- Strong ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and lead root cause analysis
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Proficient reading/interpreting complex engineering drawings and GD&T
- Familiarity with MES, ERP (Oracle) and PLM (Teamcenter) systems
- Experience developing work instructions, SOPs, and executing ECNs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with operators and senior management
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and act with urgency in a fast-paced environment
- Eligible to obtain and maintain U.S. Secret security clearance
Responsibilities
- Serve as first point of contact for production operators, technicians, and supervisors to resolve manufacturing issues in real time
- Investigate and resolve line-down situations, assembly problems, process deviations, and tooling issues to minimize downtime
- Lead disposition of Non-Conforming Reports (NCRs) and guide Material Review Board (MRB) activities, determine root cause and implement corrective actions
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions for production
- Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing work instructions, assembly guides, and SOPs in the MES
- Manage implementation of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) on the floor, including documentation updates, tooling coordination, and operator training
- Provide technical guidance and work side-by-side with technicians and engineers to build prototype hardware for test and evaluation
- Monitor and analyze production metrics (yield, throughput, scrap, labor hours) and lead projects to address negative trends
- Collaborate on workstation and production line layout design to improve ergonomics, safety, and efficiency
- Embed Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles into product designs and foster cross-functional knowledge sharing
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field
- Relevant certifications or training in Lean/CI are a plus
