Technical Writer, Fighter Aircraft Data Module

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company building AI-powered command-and-control systems for U.S. and allied military customers. The Deployments Tech Writing team seeks an experienced technical writer to own development and delivery of Technical Data Modules and user-facing documentation for the Fury fighter aircraft program, collaborating closely with engineering, operations, program delivery, and government stakeholders to produce accurate, contract-compliant deliverables.

Skills

  • 4+ years technical documentation experience with proven excellence
  • Authoring and editing XML-based DoD content (S1000D familiarity highly valuable)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specs
  • Experience with Siemens Rapid Author or similar XML authoring tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder management
  • Ability to deliver contractually required documentation on schedule and defect-free

Responsibilities

  • Generate, review, and edit S1000D data modules and XML-based technical documentation using authoring tools (e.g., Siemens Rapid Author)
  • Produce user-focused artifacts: technical manuals, operational and maintenance manuals, procedures, checklists, templates, troubleshooting guides, and release notes
  • Partner with engineers, operations, program teams, and Government representatives to identify user workflows and gather technical subject matter
  • Manage documentation roadmap, prioritize tasks, track milestones, and ensure on-time, defect-free contractual deliverables
  • Communicate risks and changes clearly to leadership and stakeholders and drive risk mitigation
  • Ensure documentation meets DoD formatting and contractual requirements and is delivered in the required formats

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Equivalent professional experience in technical writing accepted
