Bilingual Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner- New York, Remote
Ascend Healthcare delivers integrated psychiatric and behavioral health services focused on equity, compassion, and operational excellence. They are seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide telemedicine-based psychiatric and substance use disorder treatment to patients of community health center partners, supporting a patient-first, 'no wrong door' care model.
Skills
- Active, unrestricted medical license in New York and in state of primary residence
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
- 2+ years experience as a psychiatric advanced practice provider (PMHNP/NP)
- DEA license and willingness/ability to obtain DATA-waiver or complete training for MAT
- Experience with telehealth platforms and remote clinical workflows
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology and substance use disorder treatment
- Competency in trauma-informed, harm-reduction, and patient-centered approaches
- Strong care coordination and interdisciplinary communication skills
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric diagnostic evaluations for general mental health and substance use disorders across age ranges
- Provide psychopharmacological management and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) when appropriate
- Deliver supportive psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including PCPs, pediatricians, counselors, and peer support staff
- Complete validated rating scales, treatment plans, and required documentation
- Support scheduled and walk-in telemedicine appointments and follow-up care
- Facilitate referrals and coordinate resources addressing social determinants of health
Education
- PMHNP degree or equivalent psychiatric advanced practice nursing credentials
- Active NP licensure and credentialing consistent with scope of practice
- DEA registration (or ability to obtain) for controlled substance prescribing
