Business Intelligence (BI) Developer — Engineering Analytics

IEM is a 75-year-old engineering and manufacturing company delivering complex electrical distribution systems. We're seeking a BI Developer focused on Engineering Analytics who can partner with engineering leadership, fix and model source data across ERP and workforce systems, and produce Tableau dashboards with the analytical narrative that explains operational drivers in a make-to-order environment.

Skills

  • Advanced Tableau and dashboard design with drill-throughs and executive scorecards
  • Strong SQL for analysis and data validation
  • Familiarity with Snowflake and dbt or demonstrated ability to adopt them quickly
  • Experience reconciling and improving data quality across multiple source systems
  • Domain knowledge of engineer-to-order or make-to-order manufacturing processes
  • Ability to translate analysis into clear, actionable narratives for leadership

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Engineering leadership and SMEs to define problems, determine required data, and validate definitions and quality.
  • Investigate anomalies and root causes—form hypotheses, pull data, test, and communicate clear findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Remediate data quality issues across ERP, HR/workforce, engineering milestone, and drawing review systems; document fixes and prevent recurrence.
  • Instrument end-to-end engineering processes: pipeline health, phase lead times, per-engineer metrics, and order-level tracking.
  • Provide mechanical design operations with real-time scheduling KPIs and diagnostic insights for delays and bottlenecks.
  • Design, build, and maintain Tableau dashboards (executive scorecards, operational queues, drill-throughs) with embedded analytical narrative.
  • Collaborate with data engineering to develop and maintain Snowflake/dbt analytical models integrating ERP, HR, and engineering data.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Background in electrical or mechanical engineering is heavily weighted (degree or embedded experience)

Benefits

  • Competitive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Bonus and/or long-term incentive units depending on role and level
  • Retirement plan (401k) and financial benefits
  • Paid time off and holiday pay
  • Professional development and career growth opportunities
  • Remote work flexibility
