Interview Engineer (United States)

Karat runs a community of Interview Engineers who facilitate and evaluate technical interviews for hiring teams worldwide. They are seeking experienced software engineers to join as contractors who can deliver objective, bias-mitigated evaluations, create an excellent candidate experience, and collaborate on improving interview content and processes.

Skills

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong English communication skills (written and oral) and high professionalism
  • Familiarity with data structures and algorithms and common coding interview topics
  • Ability to evaluate coding style, approach, and problem-solving under time constraints
  • Reliable webcam, microphone, and stable internet connection

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate live technical interviews using Karat’s platform, creating a professional and inclusive candidate experience
  • Assess candidates’ coding skills, problem-solving approach, communication, and technical knowledge objectively
  • Provide structured, timely feedback and scoring on candidate performance
  • Collaborate with Karat on testing and iterating interview content, processes, and platform features
  • Follow Karat’s evaluation rubrics and standards to reduce bias and improve hiring signal quality

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience preferred
  • Formal degree not strictly required if equivalent professional experience is demonstrated
  • Resumes must be submitted in English
