Job Description:
This is an entry level professional services position in the field of Engineering performing a variety of moderately complex engineering functions in support of design and construction of public works and transportation structures. Preliminary geotechnical tasks include, but are not limited to:
Overseeing and inspecting subsurface exploration programs
Developing lab testing programs,
Evaluating subsurface conditions,
Development of bridge foundation alternatives, and,
Identification of pertinent geotechnical aspects.
Final design tasks may include, but are not limited to:
Completing geotechnical engineering evaluations, and,
Preparation of geotechnical design reports and calculation packages.
This position will require periodic field work to monitor subsurface exploration programs and to provide support to construction personnel on geotechnical construction activities. Preference will be given to those with geotechnical experience.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related field –OR- non-engineering college graduates and non-degreed candidates must possess a Certification of Engineer-Intern as issued by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
Licensing/Registration/Certification Requirements: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).
Non-degreed candidates must possess Certification as Engineer Intern issued by the Maine State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
