Associate Data Scientist

We are looking for an associate Data Scientist to join our Global Services team. In this role, you will work closely with public safety agencies and internal teams to help turn operational data into meaningful insights. You will contribute to and drive analytical projects that support decision-making, improve operations, and drive real-world impact in the communities our customers serve. This is a great opportunity to apply and grow your technical and consulting skills in a fast-paced, high-impact environment, helping to shape meaningful outcomes in public safety. 

What You’ll Do 

If you were part of our team, here are some things you would have done last week: 

• Collaborated with senior team members and customers to break down a key analytical question and identify the data and methodological approach needed to answer it. 

• Wrote SQL queries and used Python or R to clean, explore, and analyze datasets.  

• Built or updated dashboards and visualizations that make complex data easier to understand and act on, working directly with customers to solicit and incorporate feedback.  

• Helped combine multiple datasets, working through data quality challenges to produce reliable outputs.  

• Translated analytical findings into clear summaries, visuals, and products for non-technical stakeholders.  

• Partnered with Services, Product, and Engineering teams to share customer insights and improve the platform.  

• Helped customers better understand the Mark43 data model and how to use our tools.  

What You’ll Need 

We’re looking for an Associate Data Scientist with 0 to 2 years of professional experience, or equivalent academic or internship experience, working with data. This level of experience is a good fit for someone who is excited to learn on the job, apply and grow  their technical skills in a fast-paced environment, and grow into a more independent contributor over time. 

You should bring: 

• Knowledge and experience working with Python or R, and interest and ability to learn SQL, for data analysis and manipulation  

• Experience through coursework, internships, or projects building analyses, reports, or visualizations  

• A strong willingness to learn new tools, systems, and the Mark43 data model  

• Comfort working with messy or incomplete datasets and a desire to improve data quality  

• Background in statistics, computer science, economics, data science or similar field and analytical thinking, with curiosity about machine learning techniques  

• Ability to translate analytical insights into clear, compelling communication for both written and verbal audiences 
• Public safety, law enforcement, or crime analysis exposure is a plus but not required.

Our team is remote friendly within approved states, with opportunities to collaborate in person at our offices in New York, Boston, and Manchester UK. This role may include travel to customer sites to understand their data and operational needs and directly support analytical needs.
