Responsibilities

  • Determine product compliance for electric motors by reviewing design specifications, applying applicable safety and energy efficiency standards, owning CIMDA product certifications, managing test plans, submittals and technical documentation, coordinating witness testing and technical investigations, negotiating certification scope, timelines and cost with certification bodies and resolving non-conformities and technical findings to ensure products meet regulatory and certification requirements.
  • Coordinate and support product testing activities by working with engineers and technicians to develop and execute test programs, ensuring designs meet insulation, thermal, grounding and safety requirements, approving critical components (including wire, insulation systems, varnish and tapes), and reviewing BOM changes, material substitutions and design modifications impacting certification, to validate product performance and compliance.
  • Prepare and consolidate certification documentation by compiling product construction data, test results, and technical inputs across CIMDA and related platforms, to ensure complete and accurate submissions to certification bodies.

  • Maintain compliance records and documentation by updating certification files, test reports and regulatory records, supporting factory inspections from UL and CSA auditors, training production and quality teams on compliance requirements, and ensuring proper use of certified components, marking and labeling compliance, and adherence to change control processes, to ensure traceability and audit readiness.
  • Support product improvement and cost reduction initiatives by validating design changes, ensuring continued compliance, and defining certification strategy for new product launches and design changes, to enhance product competitiveness and lifecycle performance.
  • Ensure adherence to governance for external communication by routing certification-related interactions through designated organizational focal points, to maintain consistency and avoid duplication or inefficiencies with external agencies.
