Applications Engineer
About Overview
We are building the future of manufacturing quality with AI. We deploy AI-powered vision systems directly on production lines, helping manufacturers detect defects that were previously impossible to catch with traditional machine vision.
Our systems run at the edge, are fast to deploy, and are already used in real production environments by companies like Tesla, SpaceX, and Amphenol. We’ve grown ~700% in the past year and are scaling quickly as demand continues to accelerate. This is not a “pilot-phase” product, we are live, in production, and becoming critical to factory operations.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, field-first Applications Engineer role. You’ll be the person making our systems actually work on the factory floor: installing, integrating, troubleshooting, and pushing deployments to production. You won’t just “support” the product, you’ll own the technical execution on-site, working directly with customers to bring AI vision systems into real manufacturing environments.
Expect to:
Be on-site, close to the customer and the line Work across PLCs, cameras, and production systems
Solve real-world problems under real constraints
Play a key role in turning deployments into scaled production
This role is high ownership, highly technical, and highly impactful.
What You’ll Do
Deploy Systems on the Factory Floor
Install and configure Overview’s vision systems in production environments
Bring systems from setup → validation → production readiness
Work hands-on with hardware, lighting, and line integration
Integrate with PLCs & Manufacturing Systems
Connect vision systems with PLC platforms (Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
Ensure reliable communication between inspection systems and line controls
Troubleshoot integration issues in real-time
Own Technical Problem Solving
Diagnose and resolve issues during and after deployment
Work through ambiguity - no perfect environments, no perfect data
Partner with internal teams to escalate and fix complex challenges
Support Customers Directly
Be the technical point of contact during deployments
Guide customers through setup, operation, and best practices
Train operators and engineers on how to use the system effectively
Drive Systems to Production
Ensure systems are not just installed, but actually delivering value
Validate performance, accuracy, and reliability on the line
Push deployments from “it works” → “it scales”
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
Background in automation, controls, manufacturing, or field engineering
Comfortable being hands-on (hardware + software + systems)
Strong troubleshooting mindset — you enjoy figuring things out on-site
Customer-facing experience or willingness to work directly with customers
Ability to operate in fast-paced, startup environments
Willingness to travel 60–80% (this is a field-heavy role)
What Makes This Role Different
You’re not maintaining legacy systems: you’re deploying cutting-edge AI
You’ll see immediate impact: your work directly affects production lines
You’ll work with some of the most advanced manufacturing companies in the world
You’ll operate with high ownership - not waiting for instructions
You’ll grow fast across automation, vision, and real-world AI systems
Location
Flexible, but must be willing to travel frequently to customer sites (primarily within the US).
