- Proficiency in SolidWorks for multi-component assemblies
- Hands-on experience with PDM/version control and release workflows
- Ability to produce clear, manufacturable engineering drawings and working familiarity with GD&T
- Experience designing for machining, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing
- Comfort reading mechanical interfaces within electromechanical systems
- Experience creating and maintaining BOMs and drawings for fabrication
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical assemblies for mobile robotic welding platforms, including sensor mounts, structural elements, motion systems, and tooling interfaces
- Own designs from concept through fabrication, assembly, and field validation; iterate based on test results and field feedback
- Integrate sensing hardware (cameras, LiDAR, proximity sensors) into compact, robust mechanical packages in collaboration with electrical and software teams
- Apply design-for-manufacturing principles across machining, sheet metal, and additive methods
- Create and maintain detailed CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks and PDM
- Participate in design reviews and contribute tradeoff analyses for performance, cost, and manufacturability
- Work with fabrication vendors and internal shop resources to turn drawings into parts quickly
- Support root cause analysis and design improvements driven by field reliability data
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (typical requirement)
- Advanced degree preferred but not required
