OSP Engineer

Pearce, a CBRE subsidiary and provider of asset management solutions for mission-critical electromechanical infrastructure, is seeking an experienced OSP Engineer to design, permit, and support outside plant (OSP) projects for copper and fiber networks. The role requires hands-on engineering, permitting, construction coordination, budget monitoring, and close field collaboration with municipalities, utilities, and contractors.

Skills

  • Proven copper and fiber outside plant engineering experience
  • Permitting and regulatory compliance knowledge for municipal, state, and railroad projects
  • Proficiency with FROGS, Varasset, SiteTracker, and CAD tools
  • Loop loss calculations and switch serving area design experience
  • Strong project management, budgeting, and inspection skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with municipalities, utilities, and contractors
  • Ability to perform fieldwork and travel locally; valid driver's license required

Responsibilities

  • Design and plan OSP facilities for aerial, buried, and conduit copper and fiber infrastructure
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, loop loss calculations, and switch serving area designs
  • Perform field measurements for poles, conduits, and buried facilities to inform designs
  • Prepare, organize, and submit permit packages to township, county, state, DNR, railroad, and pipeline authorities
  • Coordinate with municipal officials and utilities on road projects, relocations, and make-ready work
  • Monitor project budgets, track actual costs, and perform job inspections for quality assurance
  • Update engineering and record systems (FROGS, Varasset, SiteTracker) and CAD records
  • Coordinate SSP contractors, joint-use pole work, and support Frontier-owned pole make-ready
  • Conduct site surveys, support PUC complaint investigations, and create capital project scopes
  • Maintain engineering records, draft reports/correspondence, and process departmental documentation

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Telecommunications, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Related technical certifications (fiber/OSP) or continuing education preferred
