OSP Engineer III
Skills
- Extensive hands-on OSP engineering experience for complex fiber/copper projects.
- Expertise in loss budgeting, splicing plans, and construction work prints.
- Strong knowledge of NESC and client/industry OSP standards and compliance.
- Proven experience obtaining permits, ROW, and coordinating pole attachments/make-ready.
- Experience with field measurement tools (measuring wheel, height stick, pull finder) and CAD/record systems.
- Budgeting, forecasting, and QA/QC discipline for project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead full life-cycle OSP engineering for multi-site fiber and copper builds (aerial, direct-buried, conduit, pole lines).
- Produce sealed engineering plans, splicing diagrams, loss budgets, BOMs, and construction work prints.
- Perform loop-loss and electronics sizing; plan field-mounted switches and network segmentation.
- Conduct constructability reviews, route optimization, and value-engineering to resolve conflicts.
- Direct and perform field surveys, validate NESC clearances, and identify make-ready needs.
- Oversee permit packages, ROW/easement coordination, and joint-use/pole-attachment engineering.
- Build and track job budgets and forecasts; recommend cost and schedule mitigations.
- Establish and track project KPIs, run QA/QC gates, and drive continuous-improvement actions.
- Maintain authoritative records (designs, permits, as-builts) and prepare executive-ready status reports.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to OSP Engineers I/II, designers, and permit staff.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Relevant technical certifications or vocational training in OSP engineering, fiber splicing, or similar are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field sites regularly.
