Director of Product

Recidiviz is a mission-driven nonprofit building data-driven software to reduce incarceration and improve outcomes in the criminal justice system. We seek an experienced product leader to set product direction, build people systems, and grow a high-performing product management team that can scale impact nationally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of experienced product managers and emerging leaders, setting goals and measuring their growth and impact.
  • Design, own, and iterate people systems: career ladders, performance frameworks, onboarding, and professional development.
  • Own the full hiring engine for PMs: pipeline development, interview design, candidate evaluation, and offer processes.
  • Set strategic context and priorities for product areas, helping PMs translate ambiguity into clear priorities and strategy.
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, design, data science, policy, and executive leadership to enable strong product outcomes.
  • Champion and model AI-assisted product workflows while setting standards for judicious tool use across discovery, scoping, and prototyping.
  • Represent product in conversations with state partners and stakeholders; travel to partners and internal gatherings as needed (~quarterly).

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience preferred
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MPP, or related) is a plus but not required
  • Equivalent hands-on product leadership experience accepted in lieu of formal degree
