Supplier Quality Engineer, REX

Scout Motors is revitalizing an iconic American vehicle brand with electrified and range-extender powertrain options. The company seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer to lead supplier quality activities for the REX program from supplier nomination through SOP, ensuring suppliers meet Scout’s quality, safety, and industrialization standards while working closely with engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing teams.

Skills

  • Deep knowledge of APQP, PPAP, IATF 16949, and VDA 6.3
  • Experience with supplier audits, run-at-rate, and launch readiness
  • Proficiency in SPC, data analysis, and technical writing
  • Strong root cause analysis and corrective action leadership
  • Project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (approx. 40–70%)

Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier engagement and approval for range extender engine and critical subcomponents.
  • Drive supplier APQP and PPAP activities aligned with IATF 16949 and VDA standards.
  • Develop and execute supplier quality strategy and supplier control plans, FMEAs, and validation test plans.
  • Conduct on-site supplier process audits, run-at-rate verification, and launch readiness support for prototype through production.
  • Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and monitor supplier KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing to resolve supplier issues impacting program milestones.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Quality Engineering, or related field required
  • AIAG Core Tools certification (MSA, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP) required or strongly preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and passport required
