Hardware Reliability Engineer, PCB (Starlink)
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in materials science, electrical engineering, physics, or related field
- 1+ years experience in hardware development or electronics test engineering (internship/academic experience acceptable)
- Knowledge of PCB test standards (IPC or similar) and environmental/mechanical test methods
- Ability to perform root-cause analysis and apply physics-of-failure reasoning
- Hands-on lab experience with environmental chambers, inspection, and test equipment
- Data analysis skills and familiarity with scripting for test automation or processing (e.g., Python)
- Strong collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering teams to verify PCBs meet mission environmental and mechanical requirements
- Perform root-cause investigations using physics-of-failure methods for reliability and quality escalations
- Execute environmental, mechanical, and electrical testing (thermal cycling, vibration, humidity, etc.) per IPC and related standards
- Collect, analyze, and interpret accelerated life test data to support reliability assessments and modeling
- Develop and maintain quality standards, test procedures, and reliability metrics
- Drive corrective actions, process improvements, and yield enhancements informed by failure analysis
- Document findings, maintain metric tracking, and present results to cross-functional stakeholders
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in materials science, electrical engineering, physics, or other applied engineering discipline (required)
- Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred or equivalent hands-on project experience
