- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- 3+ years in supplier quality, quality assurance, or manufacturing engineering
- 1+ year leading people or projects
- Experience with inspections, SCARs, dispositions, and containment processes
- Proficiency in root cause methods (5 Whys, fishbone, 8D) and Six Sigma principles
- Experience conducting supplier audits (onboarding and surveillance)
- Familiarity with aerospace/high-reliability standards (AS9100, ISO 9001)
- Proficiency with data tools (Excel, Minitab, PowerBI, SQL) and quality management systems
- Strong attention to detail and ability to make quick, effective decisions in ambiguous environments
- Ability to interface and influence across all organizational levels
- Proactive risk identification and mitigation skills
- Willingness to work extended hours/weekends and travel to supplier sites
- U.S. person status consistent with ITAR requirements
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of hourly inspectors and supplier quality engineers
- Ensure suppliers comply with quality and drawing requirements and validate clarity of requirements
- Manage hands-on quality resolution: containments, part screening, dispositions, SCARs, and ticket closures with objective evidence
- Generate quality metric reports and analyze trends to identify defect patterns and opportunities
- Initiate and drive targeted supplier improvement projects to reduce defects and improve quality
- Update or create procedures to streamline inspections, audits, and quality processes
- Conduct and prioritize supplier onboarding and surveillance audits; travel to supplier sites as needed
- Identify, categorize, and mitigate supply chain risks and make risk-based decisions
- Own preventive and corrective actions to closure
- Communicate quality trends and recommendations to Supplier Development and influence DFM/DFI
- Apply root cause analysis and Six Sigma methodologies to drive systemic quality improvements
