Skills
- Experience with fluid components (valves, pumps, compressors, COPVs, heat exchangers).
- Proficient in CAD (NX or similar) and GD&T application.
- Fluid system analysis and pressure calculations.
- Hands-on testing with sensors and DAQ (pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs).
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems and ducting.
- Manufacturing awareness and design for producibility.
Responsibilities
- Own design and engineering of campus fluid/HVAC systems (compressors, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, dust collection).
- Create CAD models and detailed mechanical designs for fluid system components.
- Perform fluid analyses for pressure balance, component allowable design and consumables estimates.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary stakeholders (production, avionics, GNC, operations) to meet system requirements.
- Ensure designs are manufacturable and transition smoothly to production with minimal sustainment.
- Support material selection, component sizing and procurement activities.
- Develop and execute test plans using instrumentation and data acquisition to validate designs.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (required).
- Master’s degree in engineering preferred.
