Quality Engineer (Starlink/Akoustis)

SpaceX (operating Akoustis as a wholly owned subsidiary) develops RF filters using XBAW technology to support Starlink and broader connectivity goals while advancing multi-planetary exploration. The Hardware Reliability and Quality team seeks a hands-on Quality Engineer to drive failure analysis, production process development, and reliability testing across mechanical, electrical, RF, and test domains to transition hardware from concept to high-volume production.

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics
  • Experience with high-volume semiconductor test or manufacturing (1+ years; internship experience applicable)
  • Hands-on failure analysis and reliability testing experience
  • Ability to analyze data and implement statistical process control
  • Experience working cross-functionally across mechanical, electrical, RF, software, and test teams
  • Comfortable with hands-on lab and factory-floor environments
  • Eligible to meet ITAR requirements

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on failure analysis to determine root cause and implement corrective actions for production, test, and on-orbit failures
  • Develop, validate, and implement production processes for current and next-generation hardware aimed at consistent quality and high throughput
  • Create data analysis tools to monitor yield, failure rates, and apply statistical process control
  • Conduct build quality reviews to ensure design intent, identify risk reduction opportunities, and improve manufacturability
  • Define Quality Management System requirements for traceability, non-conformance, and configuration management
  • Develop product qualification and reliability test plans, monitor testing, and report results
  • Define ongoing reliability testing strategies to monitor manufacturing health and screen for long-term defects

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics (required)
  • Relevant internships or co-op experience in semiconductor manufacturing or test accepted
