Capella University is seeking a Part-Time Faculty member for their Public Health program in the GuidedPath learning format, responsible for mentoring doctoral learners and delivering high-quality instruction.

Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include mentoring doctoral students, providing quality feedback, ensuring adherence to academic standards, and participating in faculty activities.

Skills: Required skills include strong communication abilities, expertise in academic evaluation, proficiency in technology, and management of stress in professional contexts.

Qualifications: Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Public Health and have three years of professional experience in the field; teaching experience at the doctoral level is preferred.

Location: This position is fully remote within the United States, with occasional travel required for business needs.

Compensation: $400 - $4000 / Hourly

Capella University offers two learning formats, FlexPath and GuidedPath, to provide a flexible and affordable way for working professionals to earn a degree designed to fit into their life.

Our GuidedPath learning format offers asynchronous 10-week courses, with 3 weeks in between each quarter for faculty to grade and prepare for the next quarter. Learners have deadlines to stay on track to review materials, understand topics, and develop consistent study habits. Faculty help learners progress by guiding courseroom discussions and providing feedback on assignments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assignments for mentoring and teaching are on an ongoing basis according to expertise and school needs.
• Utilize your professional expertise to provide high-quality instruction from a pre-designed curriculum.
• Mentor doctoral learners. Utilize your professional expertise to provide relevant feedback and ensure successful completion.
• Utilize the online learning platform to enrich the learning experience.
• Establish high standards and ensure learners understand how they will be evaluated.
• Adhere to University policies and procedures.
• Attend faculty meetings, workshops, and training as required.
• Participate in other activities based on university needs.
• Participate in doctoral committees supporting scholarship (doctoral mentors only).
• Be available within 48 hours (excluding weekends and holidays) by phone, email, and in the course room to ensure learners receive quality feedback in a timely manner to support their academic success.

  Work Experience:

• Three years of professional experience in Public Health required.
• How to conduct and oversee research/scholarship and achievement in Public Health required.
• Three years of doctoral level teaching experience is preferred.

Education:

All degrees must be conferred and from a regionally accredited institution. Copies of required certificates and licenses and unofficial transcripts for all graduate degrees with the institution and conferred degree and date must be attached.

• A doctoral degree in Public Health required.

$400 per student mentee, $2,400 per course, and/or $3,200 per course is the expected starting pay per assignment for this position this quarter. Current and future assignments are based on the additional factors outlined below.

Capella University Adjunct and Part-Time Faculty are compensated based on the number and type of work assignments offered and accepted in any given quarter.

Capella University GuidedPath Format - The pay for teaching a course range from $500 - $4,000. The average is over $3,000.

Capella University FlexPath Format - The pay for teaching a course range from $125 - $4,000, depending on enrollment and particular program. The average is over $3,000. 

The pay for doctoral mentoring assignments is typically $400 per mentee (GuidedPath or FlexPath). Doctoral reviewer assignments start at $200.
