Skills
- Expert modern C++ (C++17+) for performance-critical simulation
- Proficient Python for APIs, scripting, and data analysis
- Deep domain knowledge in spacecraft subsystems (ADCS, GNC, thermal, propulsion, EPS, orbital mechanics)
- Strong numerical methods and solver design experience for stiff/multi-rate systems
- Experience defining and executing V&V and uncertainty quantification at scale
- Systems thinking for complex distributed simulation architectures
- Experience with HIL/SIL, real-time interfaces, and hardware integration
- Familiarity with CI/CD, containerization (Docker), build systems (CMake/Bazel), and cloud/parallel computing
Responsibilities
- Own long-term technical strategy and architectural roadmap for multi-physics, real-time, and HIL/SIL simulation infrastructure
- Make architecture and technology-selection decisions with attention to performance, maintainability, and downstream impact
- Design and implement production-quality multi-physics simulation of spacecraft subsystems (6DOF dynamics, thermal, ADCS, propulsion, power, sensors/actuators)
- Architect time-stepping algorithms, solvers, and integration schemes for scalable real-time and batch execution
- Write production-quality C++ and define C++/Python API strategy to ensure intuitive, performant, and versioned interfaces
- Partner with mission planning, GNC, systems engineering, and autonomy teams to translate needs into platform investments
- Establish V&V frameworks, simulation best practices, documentation, and developer guides
- Provide technical leadership: code reviews, mentorship, knowledge transfer, and cross-functional representation
Education
- Bachelor's in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, physics, applied mathematics, or equivalent experience
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) preferred
