Sr. Software Engineer, Elixir
Skills
- Expert Elixir and OTP knowledge including BEAM internals, supervision, and process architecture
- Proven design and implementation of resilient, fault-tolerant distributed systems
- Strong testing practices including ExUnit and property/integration testing
- Experience with gRPC, REST, and WebSocket services and API design
- Familiarity across stack: reading frontend code, infrastructure constraints, and deployment concerns
- Proven Git-based workflow and high standards for PR quality and commit hygiene
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and deliver distributed system features end-to-end across satellite command & control, mission planning, data processing, and analytics
- Drive architectural direction for Elixir/OTP systems and establish fault-tolerant, concurrent, and scalable patterns
- Identify and remediate technical debt, reliability risks, and performance bottlenecks
- Maintain high code quality through rigorous reviews, testing, and reference implementations
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through pairing, reviews, and design discussions
- Collaborate with product, frontend, backend, operations, and astrodynamics teams on system-wide decisions
- Ship iteratively with well-scoped increments and document decisions and patterns
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline (preferred)
- Relevant practical software engineering experience (required)
- U.S. citizenship or status meeting ITAR/export control requirements
