Senior Principal, Technical Program Management (Research & Development)

Twilio is a leading customer engagement platform that empowers developers and businesses to build modern communications experiences. They are seeking a Senior Principal Technical Program Manager in R&D to own strategic, cross-organizational technical programs—driving roadmap strategy, execution frameworks, and enterprise-grade operational readiness while partnering closely with engineering leaders and executives.

  • Cross-functional alignment and stakeholder management
  • Risk identification, mitigation, and technical integration planning

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive multi-year technical strategy and roadmaps for cross-organizational platform programs
  • Architect end-to-end execution frameworks, governance, sequencing, and success metrics
  • Own master execution roadmap and resolve cross-portfolio misalignments and tradeoffs
  • Partner with lead engineers/architects to evaluate technical approaches and integration risks
  • Establish systems of accountability and standards for cross-functional collaboration
  • Identify ecosystem-wide technical requirements (security, billing, observability) and integrate them into core designs
  • Design and institutionalize program frameworks and technical readiness standards across R&D
  • Mentor and develop Principal TPMs and engineering leads to raise organizational execution capability

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience (required)
  • Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
