Senior Distributed Systems Engineer / Architect
Skills
- Strong Python development and scripting skills (Bash/shell)
- Proven experience building distributed systems or large-scale backend infrastructure
- Deep understanding of systems performance: CPU, memory, disk I/O, and networking
- Experience optimizing workloads for throughput, efficiency, and resource utilization
- Familiarity with Linux systems, resource scheduling, and performance tuning
- Experience building observability, metrics, and instrumentation
- Ability to debug complex systems in production environments
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable distributed systems and data processing pipelines handling heavy CPU, disk, and network workloads.
- Architect for high throughput, reliability, and efficient resource utilization across distributed environments.
- Analyze system behavior to identify and remove bottlenecks across compute, storage, and network layers.
- Implement system components, orchestration, automation, and distributed job execution tooling (primarily Python and Bash).
- Develop strategies for parallelization, batching, and workload scheduling to maximize efficiency.
- Build instrumentation, metrics, telemetry, dashboards, and analysis workflows to guide optimization.
- Implement monitoring, debugging, and recovery mechanisms and collaborate with infrastructure/platform teams for deployment and reliability.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) is a plus but not required
