Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver rigorous English instruction aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
- Lead close reading and textual analysis of literature and historical texts
- Teach grammar, composition, and rhetoric through structured writing instruction
- Facilitate Socratic dialogue and thoughtful class discussions
- Provide detailed, formative feedback on student writing and assessments
- Assess student progress through essays, exams, projects, and other measures
- Maintain regular communication with students and families in a virtual environment
- Collaborate with faculty on curriculum development and professional growth
- Use instructional technology to support learning while preserving text-centered study
- Attend required in-person testing and student events several times per year
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Humanities, or related field required
- Master’s degree in English, Literature, or Liberal Arts preferred
- Texas teaching certification (ELAR 4–8 or 7–12) preferred
