As an SDET II, you will own the design and implementation of automated testing solutions across features and services. You will play a key role in improving test frameworks, increasing system reliability, and driving quality best practices across the team.
This role is suited for engineers who can work independently, contribute to system-level quality improvements, and influence testing strategy. You’ll tackle hard testing problems, eliminate flakiness, influence architecture for testability, and raise the quality bar across teams. If you love writing real code, thinking in systems, and instilling quality as a shared principle —this role is for you.
Design, implement, and maintain scalable automated test solutions and/or tooling
Extend and improve test frameworks to enhance reliability, maintainability, and performance
Translate product requirements into comprehensive and effective test strategies
Ensure test code is clean, reusable, and aligned with engineering best practices
Identify gaps in test coverage and proactively address them
Advocate for and implement best practices in testing and quality
Reduce flaky tests and improve CI/CD pipeline stability
Contribute to reducing technical debt in test infrastructure
Independently scope, plan, and execute testing efforts for projects
Partner with engineering and product teams to ensure features are testable
Deliver high-quality test solutions with minimal oversight
Debug complex issues across test and application layers
Instrument systems and tests to provide meaningful quality metrics
Collaboration & Communication
Collaborate cross-functionally to define and uphold quality standards
Communicate trade-offs between speed, coverage, and reliability
Share learnings and improvements with the broader team
Provide guidance and code review feedback to other engineers
Contribute to team-wide improvements in testing practices and tooling
Help elevate overall quality standards within the team
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of experience in software development, test automation, or related field
Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python or Java are a plus)
Experience with test automation frameworks and CI/CD systems (Appium is a plus)

This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $125,000 - $175,000. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training.
In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package.
These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs. While most offers will typically fall toward the starting point of the range, total compensation will depend on the candidate’s specific qualifications, expertise, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
