Electrical Harness Design Engineer

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company building advanced autonomy, AI, sensor fusion, and imaging systems for U.S. and allied military customers. The Imaging team seeks an experienced Electrical Harness Design Engineer to design, prototype, and release rugged electro-optic and infrared harnesses for production systems, working closely with electrical and mechanical engineers, manufacturers, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Skills

  • 5+ years hands-on electrical harness design for rugged commercial, industrial, aerospace, or military applications
  • Experience working directly with harness manufacturers to deliver high-reliability products
  • End-to-end ownership of wiring systems including power distribution, grounding, shielding, and signal integrity
  • Ability to perform electrical trade studies and mitigate risks like voltage drop, crosstalk, EMI susceptibility, and thermal effects
  • Familiarity with common bus interfaces (CAN, Ethernet, RS-422, RS-232, MIL-STD-1553)
  • Working knowledge of MIL-STD harness standards and EMI/EMC principles
  • Experience reading and generating wire block interconnect diagrams and wire diagrams
  • Strong organization and communication skills; eligible for U.S. security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and integrate electrical harness systems and represent the harness discipline on projects
  • Research, specify, and procure connectors, contacts, back-shells, wire, shielding, and cable constructions to meet environmental and reliability requirements
  • Develop harness system block diagrams and detailed wire diagrams for production release
  • Perform electrical trade studies (wire gauge, shielding, connector selection, topology) and analyze risks (voltage drop, crosstalk, EMI, thermal)
  • Ensure system-level requirements for power distribution, grounding, shielding, and signal integrity are met
  • Prepare harness assembly instructions, formboard drawings, and test procedures incorporating industry standards and MIL-STD requirements
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to drive design choices
  • Coordinate with harness manufacturers and manage multiple concurrent projects through development and deployment

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Eligibility to receive a U.S. security clearance

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans (US roles: little to no cost)
  • Life and disability insurance covered by employer
  • Generous PTO and December holiday hiatus; caregiver & wellness leave
  • Family planning and parenting support (fertility, adoption, gestational carriers)
  • 24/7 mental health resources, therapy, and life coaching
  • Annual professional development reimbursement
  • Commuter benefits and possible relocation assistance
  • Retirement savings plans (401(k), Roth, and after-tax options for US roles)
  • Competitive equity grants included in most full-time offers
