ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As Girls Who Invest continues to scale its programming and external engagement, the organization is seeking a Manager, Events to serve as the centralized owner of GWI’s events ecosystem. This role is responsible for overseeing and project managing a high-volume, year-round events calendar (75+ events annually) to ensure consistency, quality, and operational excellence. Event types range from executive attendance at established industry moments to wholly owned GWI experiences.

The Manager, Events will set the logistical standards for how GWI produces events, formalizing processes, systems, and best practices to improve efficiency, scalability, and execution. This role will directly produce select events with a key focus on serving as the lead project manager and systems owner across all events, ensuring that every event, regardless of size, format, or audience, is thoughtfully planned, well-coordinated, and executed to GWI’s standards. 

This role partners closely with colleagues across the entire organization including the Chief Executive Officer, Communications and Marketing, Operations, Partnerships and Giving, and Career Advancement teams and reports to a Director on the Operations team. The Manager, Events will work to ensure clarity of roles and strong coordination across teams supporting cultivating prospective donors, partner engagement, and GWI community-building efforts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Event Project Management & Execution

  • Serve as event lead for GWI, maintaining visibility across the full events landscape and calendar, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Own event logistics and operational processes for select GWI-hosted events.
  • Provide project management oversight and logistical leadership for GWI events, including partner-led and co-hosted engagements.
  • Act as the day-to-day point of contact with vendors, venues, and external partners for assigned events, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and budgets remain on track.
  • Develop and oversee detailed run-of-show documents, staffing plans, and production schedules; ensure appropriate preparation, walk-throughs, and rehearsals occur.
  • Serve as, or designate, the on-site logistics lead as appropriate, ensuring space setup, staffing, VIP needs, vendor coordination, photography, and flow of the event are managed with precision.
  • Support Communications and Marketing on content capture and storytelling during select events.

Event Operations & Leadership

  • Establish and formalize GWI’s logistical standards for events, defining how events are planned, prepared, and executed across all formats to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency.
  • Create, maintain, and continuously refine a comprehensive best practice Events Playbook or Toolkit, including timelines, checklists, templates, quality-control standards, and clear ownership of tasks by event type.
  • Own and maintain the master GWI events calendar, ensuring visibility, coordination, and alignment across teams, while serving as the centralized point of accountability for event logistics.
  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders to coordinate logistics, keep colleagues on track with deadlines and deliverables, proactively track dependencies (e.g., branding, briefers, staffing, post-event communications), and streamline workflows to reduce operational burden on teams.
  • Provide ongoing recommendations to improve event staffing, vendor selection, budgeting, and operational processes, supporting new event formats, pilot initiatives, and fundraising strategies.

ABOUT THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

The successful candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented events professional who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment. This individual brings strong project management discipline, operational rigor, and the ability to manage complexity across a high volume of events.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in event management, production, or special events, ideally within a nonprofit, financial services, asset management, or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple event types and formats simultaneously, including fundraising and partner-facing events.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to create processes and systems, enforce timelines, and coordinate across stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of event logistics, space planning, vendor management, and on-site execution details.
  • Experience working in New York City; familiarity with venues and event spaces preferred.
  • Ability to operate as both a strategic thinker and a hands-on executor, willing to manage and execute on detailed logistical tasks.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with a collaborative and service-oriented approach.
  • Comfort making recommendations, identifying improvements, and proactively solving problems.
  • Experience with CRM systems, especially Salesforce, budgeting, and event tracking tools preferred.
  • Commitment to and passion for GWI and its mission.

COMPENSATION: Current compensation range expected: $100,000 - $110,000 per year. The starting pay will depend on a variety of factors that may include but are not limited to experience, education, training, and certification. GWI offers a strong and competitive benefits package.

WORK SCHEDULE: 3 days a week in the office plus frequent event attendance. Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel outside of the New York City area a few times a year.
