Skills
- Proven leadership of CNC machining or precision manufacturing operations
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings
- Experience with process development, tooling strategy, and troubleshooting
- Metrics-driven operations management and capacity planning
- Familiarity with medical device traceability and controlled documentation
- Strong problem solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Willingness to travel between sites regularly
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations across two machine shop sites, including staffing, shift assignments, and production prioritization
- Supervise CNC programmers, machinists, setup technicians, and operators to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality execution
- Maintain technical oversight of machining processes, setups, tooling strategy, and troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot tooling, machine performance, workholding, dimensional variation, and downtime issues
- Ensure work adheres to technical drawings, controlled documentation, traceability, and medical-device standards
- Drive shop performance with metrics for safety, quality, yield, and operational efficiency
- Maintain readiness of machines, tooling, fixtures, gauges, and materials
- Support hiring, onboarding, and skills development of machine shop personnel
- Partner with Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Finance for production readiness
- Support rapid prototyping and quick-turn machining to enable fast design iteration
- Lead DFM initiatives and industrialization from prototype through production, including routing and cycle-time improvements
- Develop and manage capacity planning and capital equipment strategy aligned with product roadmap
- Establish and monitor process capability (Cp/Cpk), yield, and first-pass quality metrics
- Implement PFMEA, control plans, work instructions and structured manufacturing practices
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean methods and structured problem solving (8D, 5-Why)
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or related technical field (required)
- Relevant technical certifications or advanced degrees (preferred)
