Vice President, ​Government & Community Relations

The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) is a mission-driven nonprofit focused on building an inclusive, globally competitive economy for all New Yorkers. NYCEDC is seeking a strategic, politically savvy Vice President of Government & Community Relations to advance equitable economic development, translate complex land use and policy initiatives into clear communications, and build strong relationships with elected officials, community leaders, and city agencies across the five boroughs.

Skills

  • Strong political acumen and experience working with elected officials and public agencies
  • Deep knowledge of New York City land use policies, procedures, and public approval processes
  • Advanced written and verbal communication, including public testimony and executive briefings
  • Strategic thinking, consensus-building, and stakeholder management
  • Project and people management with attention to detail and competing priorities

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategies for assigned portfolio and citywide initiatives, including Brooklyn transportation projects.
  • Lead high-level negotiations and manage ULURP-related processes and points of agreement for key projects.
  • Prepare and deliver memos, presentations, and strategic materials for senior leadership, City Hall, elected officials, and community stakeholders.
  • Coordinate cross-agency and internal relationships to align project goals and advance NYCEDC priorities.
  • Identify and proactively manage emerging issues, vulnerabilities, and opportunities affecting assigned projects.
  • Manage, coach, and develop assigned staff to build a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
  • Prepare leadership for meetings, hearings, public testimony, and high-stakes stakeholder engagements, including evening events and borough-wide travel.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in political science, public policy, communications, or related field
  • Relevant professional experience in government, community engagement, or public affairs
