Responsibilities
- Serve as primary Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for Texas operations, developing and enforcing the Radiation Safety Program and ALARA practices.
- Conduct radiation surveys, authorize RAM use, maintain source inventories, manage exposure records, and support emergency response and incident investigations.
- Act as Laser Safety Officer (LSO) company-wide: perform laser hazard analyses, establish Nominal Hazard Zones, approve laser systems, and manage eyewear/interlock programs.
- Own the Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) and hazardous materials safety programs; manage chemical inventories, GHS hazard communication, exposure assessments, and spill response.
- Integrate radiation, laser, and chemical safety into a cohesive EHS framework that supports rapid iteration and operational tempo.
- Perform job hazard analyses, provide design safety input for hardware and test stands, and approve new chemical procurements and processes.
- Develop and deliver practical, mission-focused safety training for technicians, engineers, and leadership.
- Lead incident investigations, drive corrective actions, and prepare clear reports for leadership and regulators.
- Interface with regulatory agencies (NRC, Texas DSHS, Agreement States), perform audits, and maintain compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Health Physics, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Chemistry, Physics, or a related technical field (required)
- Master's degree in a related technical field preferred
