Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in physics or engineering (mechanical, chemical, aerospace, or related)
- 1+ years hands-on build or design experience (internship, club, competition experience qualifies)
- Strong fundamentals in fluid systems, thermal behavior, and structural/mechanical interactions
- Experience with CAD (intermediate; NX a plus) and producing fabrication/welding drawings
- Comfort with machining, welding, instrumentation, testing, and data analysis
- Familiarity with high-pressure and cryogenic fluid systems preferred
- Ability to work long hours, outdoors in extreme environments, and at elevated heights
- Must meet ITAR eligibility (U.S. person) for export-controlled work
Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, and build fluid systems that support rocket launches and tests
- Own projects cradle-to-grave: lead design reviews, justify decisions, procure equipment, and coordinate construction
- Design modular, manufacturable hardware for future launch sites
- Perform system-level process design, pressurized fluid and thermal analysis, and component selection
- Work directly with technicians to build and install hardware and troubleshoot field issues
- Maintain a tight feedback loop with launch operations to meet tight deadlines and rapidly alter plans
- Activate and iterate equipment and maintenance strategies to reduce downtime
- Evaluate complex problems independently and deliver practical solutions under schedule pressure
- Perform hands-on field work and respond to emergency/priority launch needs
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in physics, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related engineering discipline
