Internship - Real Estate & Economic Development

The City of Fort Worth is offering an immersive eight-week paid internship in Real Estate & Economic Development focused on commercial real estate management and local government operations. The program prioritizes students in Texas Christian University or Texas Tech University Real Estate Management programs and provides hands-on experience, professional development sessions, and opportunities to work alongside city staff on property management and economic development initiatives.

Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a real estate or related degree/certificate
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Basic research and data analysis skills
  • Ability to work professionally in a local government environment
  • Teamwork and time-management skills

Responsibilities

  • Support commercial real estate and property management activities under staff supervision
  • Conduct research and market analysis to support economic development projects
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and data summaries for department staff
  • Participate in weekly professional development sessions and trainings
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and attend relevant meetings
  • Assist with site visits, property inspections, and documentation as needed

Education

  • Currently enrolled in Texas Christian University or Texas Tech University Real Estate Management degree or certificate programs (priority placement)
  • Students or recent graduates (within last 6 months) with major coursework in real estate, urban planning, public administration, finance, business, or related fields
  • Vocational specialization or Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate from an accredited institution in a related field
