Associate Director, AP Bilingual Editorial Quality (Spanish/English)

Location:This is a remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have theoptionof being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office). All CB employeesare required tooccasionally travel to meet in person for business purposes.

About the Team

AP® is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion, and hard work of students and educators from secondary schools and higher education. With43courses in a wide variety of subject areas,APprovideswillingandacademicallypreparedhighschoolstudentswiththeopportunitytostudy and learn at the college level. The AP program is rapidly expanding its development ofinstructional and assessment products under the leadership of the growing Assessment Production team. The cross-functional team consists of professionals withexpertisein a variety of domains that are integral to the production of AP Exam content.

About the Opportunity 

As theAssociate Director,AP Bilingual Editorial Quality (Spanish/English),youwillensureallAPassessmentmaterialsareconsistentinstyleandreflectthehighlevelofquality AP teachersandstudentsexpect fromthe College Board. You shouldhavedemonstratededitorialexpertisein both English and Spanishand a keen eye for detail, as well as the demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, work independently on tight deadlines, and collaboratewithnumerousstakeholders.

As part of the AP Assessment Production team, your impact will be significant. You will edit and proofreadAPExamsandinstructionalassessmentresources across39courses,applyingandhelpingtoshapetheAPExamstyle.Youwill workclosely withcontentexperts to ensure all AP assessment materials are clear, consistent, and error-free. You will serve as an expert on editorial matters and be accountable for the editorial quality and accuracy of all reviewed products.Additionally,you willplayaleadingroleinshapingtheclarityandqualityofall 7APWorldLanguages’assessment materials.Youwillensure that Spanish-language content isaccurate, polished, and aligned with our standards, while also contributing to the consistency and editorial excellence of materials across allAP courses, including the5additionalWorld Language courses.

Youwillhelp refine style,ensure accuracy and clarity,and support the growth of editorial capabilities within the organization. In this role, you will:

Serve as theprincipal editor ofSpanish-languageAP Examcontentand associated materials,andparticipatein thestrategic planning and maintenance of documentation to support that effort(40%)

  • EditandrefineSpanish-languageassessmentcontentforAPSpanishLanguageandCultureand AP Spanish Literatureand Cultureto ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with our standards

Contributeto overall AP editorial excellence by conducting editorial reviews ofallEnglish-language authoredAP courses’exam questions, test forms, and instructional resources (40%)

  • Partnerwithcourse expertsandothereditorstoensure error-free,accurateassessmentitems thatrendercorrectly

  • Perform rigorous "copy-to-copy" comparisonsofexcerpted passagestooriginal sourcestoupholdfidelity, accuracy, and accessibility
  • Contributetoacultureofcontinuousimprovementbyidentifyinginefficienciesandproposing smarter, more effective editorial practices,including the continued exploration of innovative technologies in editorial processes

Oversee editorial reviews of exam questions and associated materials for all AP World Language(WL) courses (20%)

  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality across all AP WL assessment content usingexpertisein multilingual editing workandexpertisein AP Exam style
  • In collaboration with the Senior Director, AP Editorial Quality, Director, AP Editorial Quality, and Director, Editorial Production, serve as a liaison between external editorial consultants and internal subject matter experts for all AP WL courses, providing clear guidance and feedback for improvement
  • Apply specialized editorialexpertiseto the review of all AP WL courses by enhancing resources and guiding and supporting fellow editors through training and thoughtful review
  • Support the development of course-specific guidelines and editorial resources

About You

Toqualifyforthisrole,youmusthave:

  • 4+yearsofprofessionalcopyeditingexperiencein both English and Spanish;editorialexperience withbilingualcontent, preferablyinsecondary or postsecondaryeducation
  • Fluency andproficiencyin both English and Spanish, in all modalities
  • Demonstratedproofreadingandeditingskills
  • Abachelor’sdegree
  • Extensive,demonstratedexperience in the application of professional style guidesin editorial workand knowledge of theChicago Manual of Styleand theReal Academia Española
  • Experienceeditingandworkinginavarietyofcontentmanagementsystemsandtechnicalplatforms
  • Strong organizational, time, and task management skills and the ability to move forward multipleprojectsinconcertwhilemeetingtimelines,bothindependentlyandasamemberof the team
