Velo3D is expanding its Build Preparation software team and is looking for an experienced Product Manager, Preprint Software to help shape the future of our pre-print software platform. The product Manager requires a deep understanding of the build preparation workflow for 3D printing and the ability to translate customer and manufacturing needs into a clear product strategy and roadmap.

The Product Manager will guide the evolution of our software stack across multiple layers of the platform, including desktop applications, cloud services, and machine-learning–driven capabilities. Our platform includes Windows desktop applications built with Qt, cloud-based compute infrastructure running on AWS, and machine learning models used to predict print outcomes and optimize manufacturing workflows.

This role will work closely with engineering, research, and manufacturing teams to define product requirements, prioritize features, and deliver tools that improve reliability, efficiency, and usability in production 3D printing environments.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop a deep understanding of additive manufacturing workflows, with a particular focus on the build preparation stage of the 3D printing process.

  • Define and maintain the product roadmap for our build preparation software platform, ensuring it aligns with customer needs, manufacturing requirements, and company strategy.

  • Translate customer, manufacturing, and internal stakeholder needs into clear product requirements, specifications, and prioritized development plans.

  • Partner closely with software engineering teams to define features, clarify requirements, and guide the implementation of solutions across our desktop and cloud software stack.

  • Work with internal application engineers and external customers to identify workflow pain points, usability challenges, and opportunities for automation or performance improvements.

  • Drive the discovery, design, and delivery of features that improve the reliability, efficiency, and usability of pre-print software used in production manufacturing environments.

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, applications, and customer-facing teams to ensure successful product outcomes.

Requirements
  • 6-8 years of product management experience with experience delivering complex technical software products.

  • Background in manufacturing, additive manufacturing, or a related technical domain, with an understanding of production workflows and the challenges of preparing parts for manufacturing.

  • Experience defining and delivering software products, including translating user needs into product requirements, specifications, and development priorities.

  • Familiarity with complex 3D desktop applications such as CAD, CAM, or other engineering software tools.

  • Ability to understand technical systems and collaborate effectively with engineering teams on software architecture, feature design, and implementation trade-offs.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work closely with engineers, application specialists, and customers to identify problems and define solutions.
