Senior Software Engineer - MES

RETHINK MANUFACTURING

The only way to ignite change is to build the best team. At Bright Machines®, we’re innovators and experts in our craft who have joined together to create a new category of manufacturing that will help transform the industry. We believe software and data are the answer, thoughtfully applied to solve our customers’ unique challenges. Through intelligent automation, we give factories newfound flexibility, scalability, and resilience. We deliver products to meet the demands of today while building a platform to take advantage of what comes next.

Working with us means you’ll have the opportunity to make lasting, impactful changes for our company and our customers. If you’re ready to apply your exceptional skills to create the factory of the future, we’d love to speak with you.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Software Engineers at Bright Machines are responsible for defining and implementing the systems that make Software Defined Manufacturing possible and that power our microfactories (lines of robotic cells). Our robots, and the software that controls them, are deployed in a variety of factory conditions and help support the manufacturing operations for some of the biggest names in the industry.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will create custom software and integrate off the shelf software into scalable systems that help our users operate in our factory. You will work on a team with other Software Engineers from the Bright Machines San Francisco office to define, architect, implement, and deploy our software stack – from robot to cloud.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a greenfield development effort that will change the way companies build and produce products.  If you’re ready to apply exceptional engineering practices and build the software that will define the next generation in manufacturing, this is your opportunity to “Be Bright”.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Implement and deploy MES features to support Bright Machines’ manufacturing operations
  • Configure and extend existing MES integrations, connecting enterprise and automation systems
  • Develop and validate MES workflows to ensure reliable execution of manufacturing processes
  • Partner with other software teams, operations, IT, and vendors to deliver MES solutions
  • Troubleshoot and optimize MES performance and data accuracy in production environments

WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • B.S. or M.S. degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience implementing or supporting MES or manufacturing software systems
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing execution, shop-floor workflows, and system integration
  • Ability to work across diverse compute environments (Windows, Linux, on-prem, cloud)
  • Experience interfacing with manufacturing hardware or industrial data sources
  • Software development with Python, any front-end framework, and proficient SQL knowledge

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAD
  • Hands-on experience with FactoryLogix, Dassault Apriso or comparable MES platforms
  • Experience working directly with manufacturing users and process owners
  • Experience or exposure to ERP/MES management workflows (part and process lifecycles, change control processes, etc)
  • Working knowledge of system delivery best practices including testing, deployment, and production support
