- Deep expertise with GCP data stack: BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, GCS, Cloud Composer/Airflow
- Hands-on dbt experience (Core or Cloud) for transformation patterns, testing, and documentation
- Strong Python and SQL proficiency for reviewing code and setting team standards
- Practical IaC experience (Terraform and/or Pulumi) to set provisioning standards
- Solid understanding of ELT/ETL, data modeling, workflow orchestration, governance, and quality frameworks
- Experience handling large-volume, heterogeneous alternative data with strict provenance
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow a 15-person data engineering organization across three teams; own hiring, onboarding, and performance management
- Define technical direction and architecture for the GCP data platform (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, GCS, Cloud Composer/Airflow)
- Design and maintain robust, scalable pipelines to ingest, transform, and serve diverse alternative datasets
- Drive platform reliability, cost optimization, observability, incident response, and disaster recovery
- Implement and enforce data security, access controls, and compliance standards for regulated clients
- Translate business priorities into a deliverable technical roadmap and represent data engineering at the leadership level
- Partner cross-functionally with data operations, data science, and product to accelerate dataset onboarding and platform capabilities
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Advanced degree preferred but not required
