We are seeking a Sr. Operations Specialist to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
Serve as the day-to-day technical interface between facility operations and programmatic tenants in a laboratory room or collection of rooms.
Assist in day-to-day business operations functions and in the development and delivery of facility operations-focused programs, policies, processes, and procedures.
Provide guidance on governmental regulations and Laboratory guidelines.
Conduct incident investigations and general issues management, including reporting.
Participate in or support readiness reviews for operations.
Support the activity approval process.
Develop and maintain required operational documentation and procedural manuals.
Plan and manage budgets related to operations and construction activities.
Provide compliance and/or quality-related support functions, including development and delivery of facility-level training, tracking and assurance of employee training.
Ensure property accountability and access control.
Provide operational and administrative support functions as required.
Oversee construction activities and operations, ensuring quality, accuracy, efficiency, and successful completion of deliverables.
Ensure safety and timely delivery of work in a Hazard Category 2 Security Classification 2 radiological facility.
Organize operations in construction and field controls.
Ensure timely completion of discrete technical activities or operational projects, adhering to technical requirements and coordinating between various groups within the construction project.
Provide group support services to assist construction projects.
Ensure consistent application of construction engineering standards and practices between jobs.
Ensure documentation adequacy and develop processes when needed.
Manage budgets, provide oversight for workers and subcontractors, and communicate effectively with stakeholders and customers.
Take responsibility for the end-to-end success of assigned deliverables.
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a technical discipline and 8+ years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
Experience in overseeing construction activities and operations, including budget management and process implementation.
Knowledge of safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements for laboratory operations and radiological facilities.
Experience organizing operations, managing field controls, and ensuring timely project delivery.
Experience conducting incident investigations and supporting readiness reviews.
Ability to develop and maintain operational documentation and procedural manuals.
Prior experience managing workers and subcontractors and coordinating between multiple groups.
Skilled in effective communication with stakeholders and customers.
Desired Skills
Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in the construction field.
Five (5) or more years of experience supporting the Department of Energy (DOE) mission.
Previous qualifications as an Electrical Field Work Supervisor, Field Work Supervisor, or Responsible (Line) Manager.
Previous work experience in a DOE Plutonium facility.
Experience in DOE construction or Decontamination & Decommissioning (D&D) projects.
Experience in a work control setting aligned to quality control, assurance, and managing complex issues under NQA-1 standards.
Ability to ensure consistent application of construction engineering standards and practices across multiple jobs.
Ability to install and improve operational processes and ensure end-to-end success of deliverables.

The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons.
