Accounting Specialist (Cypress, CA)

Now, I know what you are thinking - this is probably some boring desk job where all you do all day is shuffle papers around and file stuff, in between using one of those big multifunction copiers and taking breaks socializing at the water cooler. Well, I knew you would jump to that totally reasonable conclusion, so my response is this:

• We’re an IT company, paper is rare, and this role stays busy keeping accounts accurate, renewals on track, and small problems from becoming big ones.

What you will be doing:

The Accounting Specialist handles day-to-day accounting tasks.  They are responsible for accurate and timely entry of data in the accounting software for Method Technologies and will be the go-to person for finance questions. They are also responsible for maintaining all accounts receivable, including receiving payments and following up with clients.

Core Accounting & Finance Support

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting entries with accuracy and consistency
• Serve as a go‑to resource for internal finance questions
• Assist leadership with accounting and finance‑related projects as needed

Accounts Receivable / Payable

• Receive and apply client payments
• Monitor AR aging and follow up on overdue invoices
• Process vendor invoices and ensure proper documentation

Bookkeeping

• Accurately record credit card transactions
• Research and resolve discrepancies

Financial Reporting

• Assist with reconciliations and month‑end close
• Prepare journal entries and account reviews
• Help improve accounting processes, documentation, and internal controls

Payroll & Compliance Support

• Assist with payroll processing
• Support onboarding/offboarding paperwork
• Assist with sales tax reporting and state registrations
• Manage vendor and independent contractor compliance

Requirements:

• This is a part-time position and is not full-time.
• You must live in the Southern California area as this position works in our corporate office in Cypress, CA. We are currently only considering local candidates.
• This is not a remote position. You will be working from our Cypress office.
• 2+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience is required. We are looking for consistency in your job history as well as qualified experience.
• Experience with the following systems and skills is desired:
• QuickBooks Enterprise
• Gusto
• ConnectWise PSA
• Advanced Microsoft Excel

Compensation:

From $24.00 – $33.00 per hour, depending on experience.
