Job Description:
The Coordinator, Digital Media is an integral member of the Ohio State Athletics Marketing unit, supporting the execution and daily management of the department’s official social media presence. Reporting to the Director of Digital Media, this role is responsible for assisting with content creation, publishing, and engagement efforts that enhance fan connection and promote the Ohio State Athletics brand across all social platforms.
The Coordinator, Digital Media plays a key role in executing established social media strategies by producing and scheduling content that aligns with departmental goals and brand standards. This position works collaboratively with Creative Content, Marketing, and Communications teams to develop engaging posts, graphics, and short-form content that support athletic programs, campaigns, and key initiatives.
This role assists in live social media coverage for games, events, and press opportunities by providing real-time updates, capturing content, and engaging with fans across platforms. The Social Media Coordinator executes the implementation of coverage plans, contributes creative ideas, and stays current with social media trends to enhance content performance and audience engagement.
The position supports social media analytics and reporting efforts by tracking basic performance metrics, monitoring engagement, and compiling reports that inform content decisions. The Social Media Coordinator uses these insights to recommend adjustments and improvements to day-to-day content execution.
Additionally, this role helps maintain consistency in voice, tone, and brand identity across all social channels by following established guidelines and best practices. The Social Media Coordinator will also assist with managing student interns, providing support in content creation and publishing tasks.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, creative, and detail-oriented, with a strong understanding of social media platforms and emerging trends. The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and adapt quickly to real-time situations is essential for success in this role
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of major social media platforms, content publishing practices, and platform trends, along with strong written communication, organization, and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple assignments, work collaboratively, and adapt quickly in live-event and real-time content environments. Availability and willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed in support of athletics events and departmental priorities.
Desired Qualifications
Experience working in collegiate athletics, higher education, sports, entertainment, or another fast-paced fan-facing environment. Familiarity with social media analytics, scheduling platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, short-form video editing, photography, or mobile content creation tools. Experience assisting with live event coverage, real-time social publishing, and student intern support.
