- Deep EO/IR imaging systems expertise including detector selection and system-level performance modeling
- Radiometric analysis and optical performance budgeting (SNR, resolution)
- Optical design and optomechanical integration for SWaP-constrained spacecraft payloads
- Experience with seeker architectures, RPO sensors, LiDAR, or hyperspectral payload development
- Ability to lead engineering teams, make tradeoffs, and deliver complex hardware on schedule
Responsibilities
- Set technical direction for EO/IR payload systems including seekers, RPO suites, LiDAR, and hyperspectral sensors
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of electro-optical engineers across the full payload lifecycle
- Oversee requirements definition, optical/systems design, component selection, procurement, integration, and test
- Evaluate and down-select between vertically integrated and COTS solutions based on performance, cost, schedule, and mission risk
- Develop and maintain optical performance budgets (radiometric, SNR, resolution) and ensure designs meet mission SWaP, thermal, and reliability requirements
- Manage program schedules, budgets, staffing, and technical risk across multiple EO payload efforts
- Collaborate with avionics, systems, GNC, and software teams for spacecraft integration and compliance with aerospace standards
- Lead design reviews and communicate development status and risks to leadership and stakeholders
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field (required)
- Master's degree in a relevant field (preferred)
