ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Responsibilities

• Manages and ensures timely completion of discrete technical and/or operational projects.

• Adheres to technical requirements for the projects.

• Defines and manages project deliverables, budgets, schedules, and risks; and oversees the project team in the planning, tracking, and execution of scope from initiation to completion where all scope is being executed in a DOE Hazard Category 2 and Security Classification 1 facility.

• Performs day-to-day administrative/operational management of activities and functions in a designated program area within a line or staff department, including contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of program policies, procedures and standards.

• Determine program service levels and enhancements.

• Assists with the development and of monitoring program budgets.

• Providing technical advice to staff and other departments and performs related work as required.

Requirements

• Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.

• Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.

• Prior DOE experience supporting engineering, construction, and/or process improvements directly related to project performance is required.

• Experience and qualifications or certifications in Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), such as Humphreys & Associates or Control Account Manager (CAM) (or equivalent), are required.

• Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred.

• Experience working in a nuclear environment is preferred, with alignment to quality control, quality assurance, and managing complex issues under NQA-1 standards.

About the Site

The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons. This lab possesses unique capabilities in neutron scattering, enhanced surveillance, radiography, and plutonium science and engineering (energy.gov).
