Backend / API Engineer, Billing

This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a next-generation billing and revenue platform used by businesses of all sizes. You will design, build, and maintain backend systems and APIs that power complex billing workflows, subscription management, and usage-based pricing models. Working in a cross-functional environment, you will collaborate closely with product, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performance solutions. This position allows for direct impact on how customers operate their businesses while offering a fast-paced, autonomous, and entrepreneurial work environment. You will also have opportunities to mentor peers, solve challenging production issues, and help shape the technical direction of the billing systems.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs that support subscription, billing, and revenue operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including infrastructure, security, product, and operations to build scalable, reliable systems
- Participate in designing next-generation billing workflows and financial management features
- Debug and resolve production issues across services and multiple layers of the technology stack
- Mentor and guide fellow engineers to improve code quality, architecture, and team practices
- Deliver solutions with a user-first mindset, ensuring high performance, reliability, and maintainability
Requirements:
- 2–12+ years of experience in backend software development with high-quality coding skills in languages such as Go, Java, C/C++
- Hands-on experience contributing to or building large-scale distributed systems
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across teams and contribute to peer success
- Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to work autonomously and take ownership of projects
- Preferred: familiarity with event-driven architectures, subscription management, usage-based billing, or financial reporting systems
- Preferred: leadership or mentorship experience, and interest in financial infrastructure and revenue operations
