Founded in 2022, Mach Industries is a rapidly growing defense technology company focused on developing next-generation autonomous defense platforms. At the core of our mission is the commitment to delivering scalable, decentralized defense systems that enhance the strategic capabilities of the United States and its allies. With a workforce of approximately 220 employees, we operate with startup agility and ambition.
Our vision is to redefine the future of warfare through cutting-edge manufacturing, innovation at speed, and unwavering focus on national security. We are dedicated to solving the next generation of warfare with lethal systems that deter kinetic conflict and protect global security.
The Role
As an FPGA Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and verifying high-performance programmable logic for embedded systems that power our autonomous platforms, guidance, communication, and sensor processing subsystems. This is a hands-on position in a high velocity environment where you'll directly impact next-generation military technologies.
Responsibilities
Own the conceptual, architectural, and design components of digital, signal processing, and communication systems supporting various Mach Industries vehicles
Participate in the entire design life cycle: from requirements and concept, through design and hand on testing/board bring up.
Implement logic designs and signals processing algorithms in RTL
Integrate designs onto FPGA/SoC platforms
Implement a variety of signal types such as high speed comms (ethernet, serial), signal processing (analog, digital).
Work in close collaboration with RF/antenna, software, and other DSP engineers to design and validate software-defined radio systems
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in FPGA design and development, preferably in defense, aerospace, or high-reliability embedded systems.
Proficiency with FPGA design tools such as Xilinx Vivado / AMD Vitis, Intel Quartus Prime, or equivalent.
Strong experience coding in SystemVerilog, Verilog, and/or VHDL, including RTL design, synthesis, and timing closure.
Hands-on experience with FPGA verification (simulation, testbenches, UVM preferred) and hardware bring-up/debugging.
Solid understanding of high-speed digital design principles, clock domain crossing, metastability mitigation, resource optimization, and interface protocols (e.g., AXI, PCIe, Ethernet).
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with rapid design iterations and tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Solid expertise in developing FPGA designs that support safety-critical and high-reliability functions
Proficiency with FPGA interfacing and implementation of high-speed serial/parallel buses (such as AXI, PCIe, Ethernet, or other protocols).
Hands-on experience working with System-on-Chip (SoC) platforms, including integration of programmable logic with embedded processors and peripherals
Experience implementing Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms in FPGA hardware
Background in low-level firmware development using C/C++ for hardware initialization, bring-up, debugging, and validation/testing.
Demonstrated experience in writing HDL code (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog) tailored for defense applications
