About the Team

The Growth team at OpenAI is responsible for expanding the reach and impact of our AI products, including ChatGPT and other offerings. We focus on optimizing user acquisition, subscriptions, engagement, and retention, ensuring that millions of users find long-term value in our products.

Our work is highly cross-functional, partnering with Product, Data Science, Design, and Marketing to build growth-focused features, optimize conversion funnels, personalize user experiences, and drive business impact. We leverage data, experimentation, and AI-driven insights to create engaging, scalable, and seamless user journeys.

In This Role, You Will:

• Lead and scale a high-impact engineering team focused on growth-driven initiatives.

• Drive user growth and subscriptions by building and optimizing sign-up flows, onboarding experiences, and subscription models.

• Improve retention and engagement by developing features that enhance user experience, personalization, and re-engagement strategies.

• Run data-driven experiments (A/B tests, pricing models, referral programs, churn prevention tactics) to optimize key growth metrics.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Design, and Data Science to align on growth strategies and initiatives.

• Leverage AI-powered insights to create dynamic, personalized experiences that increase user conversion and lifetime value.

• Ensure scalability and performance while implementing growth-focused engineering solutions.

You Might Thrive in This Role If You:

• Have 5+ years of engineering management experience,

• .Have strong technical expertise in backend, frontend, or full-stack development, with experience building growth-oriented features.

• Have a track record of driving growth through experimentation, optimization, and data-driven decision-making.

• Are experienced in subscription models, user acquisition, retention tactics, and monetization strategies.

• Are comfortable working with A/B testing, funnel analysis, user segmentation, and personalization techniques.

• Have experience using analytics tools (SQL, Amplitude, Looker, or similar) to guide product decisions.

• Are passionate about AI and excited to work on bringing cutting-edge AI technologies to millions of users.

This role is exclusively based in our San Francisco HQ. We offer relocation assistance to new employees.
