Somethings is building the first social wellness platform for teens — a place where a teen can form a real relationship with a mentor who gets them, sticks with them, and helps them get better.
25 million teens in the U.S. are struggling with their mental health. Every one of the thousands of teens who downloads Somethings is struggling. Our job is to make sure they don't just show up — they stay, connect with real humans who care deeply about them, and get the support they need to thrive.
We're backed by General Catalyst and world-class healthcare + consumer investors, and we're growing like crazy — in 2025 we grew 1100%, raised our $15M Series A, and are on track to 5x in 2026.
If you want to be part of the generationally defining company in mental health, welcome home.
We're looking for a Chief of Staff to work directly alongside our CEO and do whatever it takes to move the company forward.
Most Chief of Staff roles are glorified project management. This one is not.
This is a role for someone who has already proven they can operate at an unusual level — and who wants to apply that at the center of one of the most important mental health companies being built right now. You will be in the room for enterprise health plan negotiations, board conversations, hiring decisions, and strategic inflection points. You will not be observing. You will be executing.
You will report directly to the CEO and work more closely with Patrick than anyone else at Somethings. The job is simple and relentless: identify what matters most, and get it done — completely, independently, and without being asked twice.
If that sounds like exactly how you already operate, keep reading. If it sounds like a stretch, this is probably not the right role.
In the near term, that means:
Recruiting — owning sourcing, pipeline management, and hiring execution for critical roles across the company
Sales + Commercial — supporting enterprise health plan partnership preparation, materials, research, and operational follow-through
Research + Strategy — conducting deep, rigorous market, competitive, and policy research that directly informs how we grow and position the company
Over time, this role will evolve with the company. The right person will take on increasing ownership and scope, and will have the opportunity to grow into a functional leadership role as Somethings scales.
This is one of the highest-leverage seats in the company. If you want to learn how to build a company by being at the center of one, this is that job.
Source and engage candidates across critical roles — engineering, product, design, operations, and leadership
Manage pipelines end-to-end: outreach, screening, scheduling, and follow-through
Ensure the CEO is never the bottleneck on a hiring decision
Represent Somethings compellingly to candidates — in writing, on calls, and in person
Prepare materials, one-pagers, and research briefs for health plan and payor partnership conversations
Manage follow-through on commercial relationships — ensuring no thread goes cold
Conduct deep due diligence on prospective partners, competitors, and market opportunities
Support pitch preparation, RFP responses, and enterprise partnership workflows
Own research projects from question to clear point of view — market sizing, competitive landscape, policy environment, partner analysis
Synthesize complex information into crisp, decision-ready documents
Help the CEO think through strategic questions with well-organized, well-sourced input
Support board materials, investor updates, and external communications as needed
Pick up high-priority workstreams across any function — and deliver outcomes, not status updates
Operate as a trusted proxy for the CEO in conversations, communications, and decisions
Identify gaps and problems before they become urgent — and solve them quietly
Keep nothing important falling through the cracks
You are early in your career but operate like someone much more senior — you've been told that before, and it's true
You have a strong academic foundation or equivalent proof point — you are genuinely, demonstrably smart
You are a builder at heart — ex-founder, ex-operator, ex-consultant, or someone who has always found ways to create things rather than just execute within systems
You are fully autonomous — you do not need someone to tell you what to do next; you figure it out
You are an exceptional writer — your memos, emails, and documents are clear, direct, and require minimal editing
You understand healthcare — you know how the system works: payors, MCOs, Medicaid, health plans, and the commercial dynamics that drive enterprise deals in this space
You are mission-driven in a real way — the fact that this work affects struggling teenagers is not a nice-to-have; it is why you want the job
You are relentlessly high-output — you produce a lot, you produce it well, and you don't confuse being busy with being effective
You are deeply discreet — you will have access to sensitive information across every part of the company and you treat that trust seriously
This role does not require:
A specific number of years of experience
Prior experience in a Chief of Staff role
What it does require:
Evidence that you operate with ownership, speed, and exceptional judgment
Proof that you can figure things out without being told how
You want a prestigious title and proximity to leadership without real accountability
You need a clear job description, a defined scope, or a structured onboarding to do your best work
You are looking for a stepping stone to something else and are primarily motivated by the résumé line
You have strong opinions about what is or isn't "your job"
You are more comfortable producing decks about strategy than executing it
You've never worked in or around healthcare and aren't deeply curious about how the system works
You want a primarily remote role — this job requires being in the room
