We offer various high-quality, affordable healthcare plan options supported with best-in-class customer service.

We are proud to say that for four years, HMA has been chosen as a ‘Washington’s Best Workplaces’ by our Staff and PSBJ™. Our vision, ‘Proving What’s Possible in Healthcare™,’ and our values, People First!, Be Extraordinary, Work Courageously, Own It, and Win Together, shape our culture, influence our decisions, and drive our results.

What we are looking for: We are always searching for unique people to diversify our team. We only hire people that care deeply about others, thrive in evolving environments, gain satisfaction from being part of a team, are motivated by tackling complex challenges, are courageous enough to share ideas, action-oriented, resilient, and results-driven.

What you can expect: You can expect an inclusive, flexible, and fun culture, comprehensive salary, pay transparency, benefits, and time off package with plenty of personal development and growth opportunities. If you are looking for meaningful work, a clear purpose, high standards, work/life balance, and the ability to contribute to something important, find out more about us at: https://www.accesshma.com/

How YOU will make a Difference:

HMA is embarking on a multi‑year transformation initiative focused on modernizing HMA’s claims processing capabilities. Over the next three years, we are transitioning to a new, more efficient claims system that will strengthen accuracy, improve member and client experience, and support long‑term operational growth. This project brings together teams across HMA to rethink processes, adopt new technologies, and build a stronger foundation for the future.

Why we need a Service Reliability Engineer:

  • Ensure reliability and performance of a mission‑critical claims platform as it is built and scaled.
The new claims system will be a large, distributed application supporting core business operations.
  • Improve system stability while accelerating delivery during the migration.
  • Proactively measure, monitor, and optimize system health before issues reach Claims Operations.
Claims failures often surface as backlogs or manual rework rather than obvious outages.
  • Provide dedicated operational ownership across complex, multi‑team systems.
The migration introduces multiple applications, vendors, and handoffs.
  • Build sustainable, automated systems with clear service‑level expectations.

What YOU will do:

  • Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications
  • Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions
  • Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating for continual improvement
  • Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large-scale distributed software applications
  • Gather and analyze metrics from operating systems as well as applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
  • Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures
  • Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
  • Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts
  • Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service-level objectives

Knowledge, Experience, and Key Attributes needed for Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline preferred
  • 3-5+ years supporting production systems with on‑call/incident response, root cause analysis, and operational ownership for business‑critical applications.
  • Strong SQL / Microsoft SQL Server experience including performance tuning, troubleshooting, and working with data capture / batch processing patterns (e.g., CDC).
  • Monitoring + metrics experience using application and OS signals to detect failures and performance degradation, ideally in workflows with downstream reporting (e.g., dashboards).
  • Experience with file/data integrations and batch pipelines (e.g., extracts, ingestion validation, SFTP handoffs) and stabilizing them through testing and automation.
  • Proven collaboration in Agile delivery—working with dev/QA teams using tools like Azure DevOps to improve release quality and reliability in production.
  • Familiarity with QicLink, DocGem, Insight Pro, and Power BI in a claims/operations context is a plus.

The base salary for this position in the greater Seattle area is $119,000-$133,000 and varies dependent on geography, skills, experience, education, and other job or market-related factors. Performance-based incentive bonus(es) is available.
